It’s been blazing hot in Singapore of late, so all we want to do is hang out in air conditioned places. Besides dog cafes, there are only a handful of establishments in Singapore that are dog-friendly; even if they are pet-friendly, we usually have to sit outside, so it’s still really warm for both human and dog. Thankfully, while searching for a play date location for Polar and his new friend over the weekend, we discovered a hidden gem tucked away at Amoy Street that is dog-friendly and allowed us to sit indoors!
Situated in the midst of old shophouses and rustic temples, My Awesome Cafe operates out of a space that probably used to house a Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic. They’ve retained the exterior facade and renovated the interior. Accompanying its nourishing and wholesome menu, the cafe’s decor makes you feel all nostalgic for the good ol’ days. Old school tables and antique shelves are juxtaposed against fairy lights and cheery lanterns, making for a very unique ambiance.

Brunch Gang!
The breakfast menu is simple – mostly eggs, toast and croissants – and not exorbitantly priced like in most hipster cafes these days. The coffees were great too. The cafe owners let us sit indoors with our dogs leashed up next to us so that we could escape the heat while having breakfast. They even brought out a bowl of water for Polar and his new friend – Louie.
After breakfast, we decided to go for a leisurely stroll around the neighbourhood at Ann Siang Hill Park. It’s a new place for Polar and me, and in spite of the scorching weather, it was fun to explore a part of Singapore that we’ve never experienced. I probably would have never walked through this park myself, but now with Polar, everything is a new experience!

Until next time, stay curious!
[UPDATE 13/05/16: We’ve been told that some people + dogs visiting the cafe were not given the option of sitting indoors. We were probably given the privilege as it was early in the day and the cafe wasn’t crowded yet. Best to call ahead and ask if they allow your dog to be indoors. To add on to this, as much as we love bringing our little best friends around, we would like to encourage responsible dog ownership. Always leash up your dog especially when there are other people around as you never know who might feel uncomfortable with unleashed pets.]
